Hopefully a simple question with a simple answer.
I want to stick sheets (One at a time) of emery paper onto some appropriate sized offcuts of 1/2" thick laminated glass I got years back. I want to use them to sand bit's of machine reasonably flat before moving on to the surface plate and scrapers. I've checked the glass on my surface plate, and all 3 sheets seem surprisingly flat (One was actually quite hard to slide back off !!!).
I'm looking for tape, double sided sheets or glue that I can evenly cover the glass with so I can stick the whole emery sheet onto it (Rather than just two edges, as I've found the paper just WANT'S to snag and rip when doing it that way). But it also needs to come off the glass reasonably easily and cleanly, plus I don't want anything that's going to have a hissy fit when it gets water or get's WD40 on it......... Oh, and as always, the cheaper the better.
I've looked around online, but it's hard to even gauge how thick most tapes are from grainy little generic photos.
I've used either oil or water in the past. This worked well for a bit, but they tend to turn the backing paper on the finer sanding sheets to pulp before the grit's even gone dull.
So, what products would everyone here recommended ? IS there even something out there that fit's the bill?
