ford ranger max towing wieght is 3 ton plus tackograph for business use
landys 110 130 double cabs are the only ones to tow 3.5ton on over run brakes
4 ton with linked brakes only legally
but still need tacko for business use
you could always buy a unimog black edition (Brabus) tows up to 29 tons

Probably NOT with a tacho fitted, it all depends on what it is being used for, for the carriage of your own goods for your own use on your holding, then red would be fine, but go down the road to pick up someones, anything then its white.
When JCB fastracs first came out a lot of farmers abused them by hitching up artic trailers and doing haulage work they soon clamped down on this, the uses of concessionary duty fuel are now VERY specific and the penalties are the same as filling up your ordinary car with cherry.

Toyota 80 series Land Cruiser. Better built, bomb proof and built to pull that load. No rot, great torque, easy to get parts.
If the pick up is something you really want, do use Google to research Isuzu engine problems. There are some engines with major issues. The 3.0 was particularly troublesome IIRC.

I know you do "don't do landys" but the fact is that the only thing that actualy meets your spec (without dredful expence and/or dubious legality) is a 110" crew cab! if you find yourself a good 300Tdi conversion you could have a good touble free motor for a decade to come.Kids in the back seats, tools/bales in the pick up, cattle trailer on the back with 4/5 fat bullocks on board & 27+/to the gallon. so please tell me why your ruling out a useful motor?
I know it doesn't meet your towing needs but I can't recommend the Mitsubishi L200 enough. I've always had land rovers but after using the L200 Im totally converted. Great power, great brakes, nice inside, good steering circle, decent towing capacity. I'd never buy a landy now, they just don't compete in my view.

well i been out for a nose today and what i have seen has somewhat astonished me a bit
a 59 plate and a 10 plate landy90 both with more rust than my 15year old beemer
the tow brackets and rear end of the chassis were quite frankly awful
a couple of l200's about 4 year old with similar issues of poor paint under the rear arches on the chassis
ford haverfordwest dont sell rangers,if i want 1 its off to swansea

even i cant argue that a defender isnt as comfortable as a pickup although i havent sat ion a new one for a few months
on a long journey i would rather a pickup although when i finally get around to building my defender it will have disco seats for a bit more comfort

you can move the seats in a defender back MUD UK do a kit to make the seat move up a inch and back 3 inch also a kit to cut the bulkhead down in the vans for the same reason

Have you considered the VW Amarok? It shouldn't be rusty as they're only just out and also made from the usual VW/ Audi Galvanised steel.
Not sure on tow capacity though.

i did because theres a vw dealer a mile away from me ....its not a van center tho

In fairness though, yes i agree the land rovers do not make as nice 'cars' as the alternative pick ups, but then again if you are towing 3.5t you are really outside the 'normal car' range.
New disco's are nice cars, will tow what you want, but obv. are not a pickup so it depends what is more important to you.

have seen the kits from mud but dont think the seat is as comfy to sit in regardless of the position although they would help
mine will have no rear bulkhead to allow disco seats
