There is absolutely no excuse for not having wheel chokes if you regularly tow cars. A complete set of certified straps and wheel chokes cost about £50. It still amazes me how many I see with straps just twisted on themselves. Also often just diagonal strapping, it takes 10-15mins to put the extra 2 straps on.

It's amazing that Honda CRV even managed to get going with that tractor on.

In rural Herefordshire I've seen comedy stuff like that, many of these crew cab pickups Hilux for example can't legally tow more than a Volvo estate but you see them all the time with 3t+ on them.

I'm not trying to be clever here but how would you strap down a tractor ? I've only ever seen them strapped in that fashion. From what I've seen they are awkward items with limited means of being held securely.

I wouldn't put straps over the back like that and front for one. If it bounced it could pop it off. Chains are one thing or at least do something called choking. Similar to how recovery drivers use a strap with another small bit of strap between it. When they tighten it then pulls it all together. Although it can be easily done without those silly overpriced 1ft long strap things. (Note he technical terms )

I know what you mean about choking, when I've moved excavators in the past I've always choked the digger arm, but just gone over the tracks from side to side. Tractors are damn hard to lash down, I suppose you could choke each tyre but I've never seen it done, they are always as shown in the original picture. Mind you we don't hear about tractors falling off lorries on the news every week so perhaps it's good enough the way they do it.

I will keep my eyes open while out we often see them on trailers 4 at a time, as the ex ford tractor plant is not far (now New Holland).
Think they only have a couple of straps on will look to see if they also use chains.

I've had 5 tonne behind mine but then again rules don't apply to us agricultural lot
