Bit of 2.5mm flex on a 20A mcb and everyone's happy!!
Or just have a dozen or so 13A sockets and a couple of 16A Blue sockets next to the consumer unit and run extension cables all over the house.

Surely the easiest way would be to run one extension (get a nice long one so it'll reach - you can always leave the stuff you don't use coiled up) and dasey chain adapters off the end.
How that's safer than a well planned fixed circuit installed to IEE guidelines I don't know. But one is illegal, and the other meerly criminaly insane.
An extreme example, but the temptation is to do something less than ideal rather than put in a new circuit and do the job properly.
Some good suggestions from eggster, but my though is just to do things sensibly and safely following the IEE guidelines and using the best materials available (rather than pulling old stuff out of a skip).

That's OK as long as you put nails in the fuse-holders nearest to the consumer unit. You'd have to put the coiled up spare cable in a bucket of water to keep it cool though.

Nails are too small for the fuse holder - you need to use a tip from a MIG! Nice bucket of oil will do, it's an insulator and the bare wire's would have to get really hot for it to burn properly!!!!
