ask if you can buy the remains off the underwriters (they're only gonna get 50-100 quid for it auction, or less if they scrap it) - or is it completely unredeemable?
it *does* look fixable to me in the photo - I know I bang on about it, but a beismeyer clone is cheap and easy to make.
*if* it's only the fence, a replacement should bolt straight on.

I don't know - communication has not been easy at all. I went for 12 days with no communication, emails un-answered, i think i spent about £4 on call waiting on my phone, etc. etc.
As i say, Im told the job will be picked up for "Insurance Mitigation", and im loath to complicate things with talk of salvage.
Its frustrating, as i spent months looking on ebay and eventually found a 1ph machine in the right state, for a good price, but obviously the insurance will only pay out cost price (£400), rather than the replacement price (which would probably be more like £500).
Its funny - if you pay £3k for your car, and then it gets written off, suddenly, its market price, but if its the other way around, its cost price.
The fence casting is cracked up, and the micro adjust is bent up. Theres another bit that im not even too sure of the purpose of, as half of it is missing.
The fence rail is banannad. I thought maybe that could be re-made easy enough if the cast was welded, but its not just a simple cylinder, and you would loose the micro adjust - not that that isnt knackered anyway!
Im sure a new fence could be fitted. An off-the-shelf 3rd party would, again, cost more than the saw (say £600 for an inca) Wadkin could only offer a replacement at, they said £800-1000. They suggested buying another saw and breaking the two into one.
If the insurance offered me the job for, say, £50, then, yeah, it would probably be worth it - i could *maybe* buy another 3ph machine for, say, £400 delivered, and make a hybrid, and be at a similar point financially - and then make a bit back on selling the surplus parts, but its a fair bit of messing about, and theres not a whole load for any "salvage" before im out of pocket again.
I have a bandsaw, and a radial arm saw both of which require setup that i just dont have time or motivation for right now. My plan was to buy a table saw that would require minimal setup, and just work... And now im either back to looking on ebay for a replacement that i can buy with the insurance payout, or (possibly) on ebay looking for another machine to break if i purchased the salvage. Or as you say, building a fence, which probably wont be as easy to use as the original, so always be 2nd best.
I mean anything is fixable with time and effort, and usually money, but somtimes you just want (and pay) for something that just works.
...and i still have to move the machine out kerbside again for collection, on rollers, through the house. It never seems so bad when its a new "toy" but when its just to get shot of something, its a chore.
I suspect the bottom line will probably be that this one disappears off somewhere, and i have to put in another £100 to replace it with a £500 machine - or spend another 6 months looking for a 1ph unit on the cheap.
I mean, these things happen - noones died or anything. But ive been put in a pretty bad mood by listing to the same recorded message go round and round on the phone on some 0845 number. No one likes recorded messages at best of times....

In the meen time I've also purchased the whole top off the later saw - the AGS 250.
I've not even got my hands on that, as it's miles away and someone is picking it up for me.
The ags250 top is /was a bit of a gamble, as the rails / fence are different on the later units, and I'm taking the gamble that the holes match up with the earlier lower casting - ie that I can make a hybrid.
But... This pile (in the photo) turned up on gumtree last night, so, after 3 hrs of driving, I have that too - so I'm pretty well covered now.
I've not even got my hands on that, as it's miles away and someone is picking it up for me.
