I also hear myself saying things like him. I am slowly turning into my father, sadly as others say its inevitableThat’s the worst thing about getting old ….. looking in the mirror & seeing your father!
tractors may be worth more" in their woeking clothes" to a certain section of society, usually wearing an immaculately quaffed beard, carrying a man bag and riding an electric scooter! The type of person who pays £150 for a sheet of rusty corrugated iron because it is sooo rustic! This is usually because they have neither the knowledge or dedication required to restore or maintain a working machine in good condition. It is merely a fad! An MF135 is a very desirable tractor especially if it is running and fully usable, and a new coat of paint, makes not one iota of difference one way of the other, but it is worth much less with rotten tinwork, than with good! I, as many of you will know have just restored a 1955 Fordson major, and when time comes to sell it, if I am still around, above type of person need not apply to purchase, lest he leaves my premises with a flea in his ear, and a steely toecap up his backside!
He's not going to be around for ever. Enjoy his company while you can.![]()
Oh I don't know. I'd be proud to be half the man my father is.That’s the worst thing about getting old ….. looking in the mirror & seeing your father!
or you already are without noticing itSomeday you'll be just like him... its inevitable.
Just let him enjoy living his life,..he,s doing no harm surely playing with HIS OWN stuff
"Waiting till he dies so I can just sweep up the pile of rust and put it in the bin now"...glad your not my son![]()
your dad sounds like a level headed old man..cherish him bud as i really regret not having a normal relationship with my old man and missed it all my life.I been digging up new potatoes with my 91 year old Dad this evening after work.
He got two tubs and put all the little one in his - and all the big ones in my tub.
Then he declared "I like the little ones".
I just laughed - so did he...
Really enjoying doing a few things for/with my "frail old man"! He is getting weak - but he has not lost his mind or wit.

The following maybe a little "political". My Father's view on who will be the next Tory leader!
Bearing in mind my Father will be 91 in Sept.
His thoughts are and I quote:
"Rishi Sunak is a bright lad - Priti Patel is not too popular and has no hope. But if Grant Shapps gets the job - I will be moving to Spain".
Several things pleased me from the above statement. One: My Father never mentioned or even cared two of the candidates are from an Asian decent (different age group). Two: My Father has a grasp of what is going on and is following it in the papers. He then asked me if this comes to a general election, which he did not think it would. Would I take him to the polling station later in the year to vote - if he lives that long (his words not mine).

Before my old mother died a few years ago she thought i was her daughterI feel sorry for people of my age who parents fall to dementia (I really do and count myself lucky) - my "old man" is weak and frail - my Mother is near deaths door with heart failure. But they are still "my parents".
This would be allot worse for the whole family - if there minds had gone!
You can't beat "time or tide! But dementia is cruel from what I have seen of it. It takes everything - you interactions with you family - your memories - your identity!
I had to send a message to my dad suggesting that sharing posts on facebook that came from the national front wasn't a great idea. He's not racist (I think), just doesn't think or check where things originated from or even if they are true.Worry when they get iPads and discover the internet.
They don’t understand that stuff written on the internet isn’t always right
Yep, I know very well. They just don’t understandI had to send a message to my dad suggesting that sharing posts on facebook that came from the national front wasn't a great idea. He's not racist (I think), just doesn't think or check where things originated from or even if they are true.
