Lost my dad at the end of last year so still a bit raw...then lost a very very good friend at the beginning of this year. It's really not been a great 12 months...I've been spending time wondering who is next if I'm honest...does make you think.
This thread makes me too emotional to add much to it. Still sadly missed after 11 years. He would have loved our two grandkids, and they him. And he'd have been horrified to know his old liner cement mixer with the lister D ended up in bits in a scrap yard in London.

Bloke at work once proudly showed me that he had made up a username that allowed him to “troll” the daily mail online app thing with stupid and abusive comments. Perhaps it makes them feel relevant on the internet somehow

Having managed to ignore the orange marvel, I'm getting ever increasing questions about "How can we sell it?"
I'll be honest and say that every time I see the thing, it absolutely ****** me off, to the extent I found the remnants of the paint and put a sledgehammer through the tin tonight.
My pair of brothers are completely ignoring the problem, with the expectation that I'll somehow fix it.
The paint is still tacky to touch. If you press your hand against it, it'll stick and not slide.
From my memory of when I first tried the tin of paint, I had to strip every last remnant of it off to avoid any reactions with the correct paint, but that was only two brand new wings, and not every bit of tin work on the tractor.
I've spoken to a couple people I know who have an interest in old tractors, and both reckon that in it's current state, it's probably worth less than half of it's potential value, and probably even less if the paintwork had never been touched.
I'm at the point where I'm thinking of sticking it on eBay, and if it only sells for a couple of grand, so be it, as I really don't have the time or patience just now to sort it out to any reasonable standard.

My old boy does things that are similarly frustrating. It’s not for lack of ability, nor most of the time money to get the right stuff, it’s just that he grew up on a dirt poor farm in the 1950s and it’s more of a “just get the job done and get it moving” kind of thing. He also comes from a time when things that are now worth a LOT were worth nothing, and he still thinks the same. For instance in the 1970s he was given two gmc DUKWs in full swimming order, and cut them up for scrap. Now you’d be looking at the wrong side of 100k for one 
he came home from work one day and presented me with 100 quid as he’d sold my little 16ft fishing boat to one of the lads at work who was after one. He was pleased that he’d got so much. I had 400 quid in it 
he just can’t get his head around that things aren’t cheap or easy to get anymore and it drives me nuts.
still if I turned out half as decent as him with regards to how he looks after family, I’d be lucky

Reading this thread is quite polarising for me.
I understand the frustration and irritation of a parent who is "difficult" - as this was my Mother who I think went to her grave at 80yo (6 years ago) feeling that her life was an unhappy disappointment. Every conversation for donkeys years was a series of pretty bitter and uncharitable condemning complaints & character assassinations (largely about my long-suffering, mildly-inept, benign & good-natured stepfather who she'd married when I was 16).
My biological father died in a road accident when I was 7yo (& being a long-distance lorry driver since my birth I never got to have any real knowledge of him as a father or person.
So it's a different, alien world to me - when I read stories from people who have (or had) long, close relationships with good parents who raised them well and were or are parents a son could learn to respect, like & look up to as he matured and gained appreciation & understanding.
To me, those people had a gift of incalculable value - that sometimes is taken for granted because its always been their norm.
As for the tractor - yep that's going to get under your skin. Vintage tractors around here are much like vintage cars to Farmers, and many will restore and greatly enjoy a chug around in Rallies and shows, ploughing matches etc on their pride & joy - and it looks like that that MF135 is a very good example that deserves a better paint job for sure.
But.... is it really that big a deal that the daft old goat put carp orange paint on it & devalued it? Is the money/value & need to sell really pressing? If not, then maybe 24-hours to cool down & get pragmatic might be a good thing? Perhaps throw a tarp over the orange mess & just leave it sit there awhile?
There's a chance that one day in the future you'll be looking back at this (& other events with your father) without the irritation and in a different light).
Hell - if you keep the thing, you might down the line find it an enjoyable project to do when you have more time.

if you have the space to keep it tuck it away and give it a rest a fresh pair of eyes when its not psising you off it will differnt then
