Compared to a V8...![]()
£10 a week difference in commuting the same route
it’s a 2 litre petrol with the non turbo version of the gt4 celica

And my 3.5t iveco is 270 go figure. That gets to me, my bike is £93 , more than a lot of heavy damaging cars but my 6.5ton iveco van is £165
None of it makes sense

I never understand why they dont add VED as a percentage of fuel price (or even a fixed price per litre). It would raise more, tax those who use more, be related to economy of the vehicle used and people wouldn't be able to avoid it.

Classic van you say? Everyone knows that a Renault master mk1 is the best classic van... LolI decide to do my bit for the environment ....I was going to buy a 1l diesel runabout but all the taxes coming down the line made me switch to a petrol...2.5t ...200bhp...2 ton Volvo 4wd!
Bit bonkers....but got to do my bit
I was thinking about a classic van...no mot and no road whatever....just didn't know where to start looking.
they're known as the EcoBoom for a reasonWhy would you possibly want a stinking, clattery, heavy, tdci fiesta when you could have an ecoboost and have lower maintenance costs? And it'll rev better and sound better. Because, 3 cylinders![]()

Get a Sandero stepway, cheap tin box, great engine. So good, I bought two of them.I didn’t want to spend too much
my missus has a fiesta st 1.0 with 125 it’s surprisingly quick
was looking more than anything to lower the commuting costs
Robin Reliant.... or Mk1 transit with the Essex V6... :-)

They're tough, with the build quality of an early 90's clio![]()
nice, I have a soft spot for renault.one of the lads at work has a 29k miles mk1 Clio in purple

They're massively overbuilt underneath, and they run an iveco 8140 engine which powered many an Iveco Daily van. The non-turbo ones are very very slow though. They do drive nicely though, comfortable.Cheers...hadn't thought about the Renault....I was looking at MK1 transits but prices are high (guess a few others had the same idea).
Don't know if I understand the rules correctly....but a 40 year old van would be exempt from MOT, road tax (VED), ultra low emission zone charges (quite ironic that last one!)?
nice, I have a soft spot for renault.
How far is this daily commute?
