Cos road tax is the most expensive part of motoringget on with it! Even the highest tax band is still affordable for most people!
I can afford it I want to save money hence asking the question
I have 4 cars and 4 bikes so need to be a bit more sensible about a daily as I have been using my 3.9 v8 for a few months

That gets to me, my bike is £93 , more than a lot of heavy damaging cars but my 6.5ton iveco van is £165I've just got the road tax reminder for my motorcycle,.....£93 they want now.Robbing ********.

My point is, I bet the tax increase from £30 next year will only be about the same cost as a tank of fuel... I mean, so what if it goes up by £200? It'll cost you more than that to change the car...
All these people choosing cars based on road tax... it'll cost them probably £5k/year minimum in fuel, insurance and maintenance/depreciation... so what's a few hundred pounds going to do one way or another?
It's just a nice clear concise number that can be compared directly from car to car... people get hung up on it and miss the big picture...
Oh, and having 8 vehicles and running around in a V8? Yes you must be able to afford it all right

I believe that the answer to that is No.
I am a bit surprised that the likes of MAG, BMF etc haven't been able to do something about this,..... motorcycling is the answer to a few transport/environment problems after all. More proof that government doesn't really give an uncle buck about all that, it's money they want the most.

it’s not that economical in all honesty from my experience toyotas are fairly juicy like hondas I’m in it today until I look at the disco tomorrow and see what’s up with the gearbox

they have turned a blind eye to it for years even though bikes have been made to be more green
have a google and look at the size of the new exhausts on day the gsxr Suzuki it’s huuuuuge

I was blown away by a mates Rav 4 when we went up to Scotland stalking on autumn. He's not a slow driver by any means and he'd got worried about space because of taking my two dogs up so had a roof box on top (from a long wheel base Shogun). We averaged just over 50mpg on that trip and that included 4 days of driving around off-road on estate roads and when on the road weren't often below the limit.
Certainly better than when we went up with my 3.6TDV8 and averaged 28mpg - although it was slightly more comfortable and we got there a little quicker (by a few hours)

I agree. I owned a second generation Smart car for a few years, 1000cc turbocharged engine, pretty impressed with it to be honest, for my commute/use at the time it were great. It had leather heated seats and aircon, great on petrol,... I'd certainly look at another one if I didn't need the use of a pickup truck.
