Diesel heater for shed

Once the new garage is a bit nearer completion I will be fitting a diesel heater, currently drying it out with a gas one as I had it with a full bottle so shame to tip it.
Once the leccy supply is in I will fit a diesel heater

Was in the garage for five hours yesterday with outside temps of minus one.
The 8kw (badged) heater got the inside temp up to 11c after half an hour. Five hours burned maybe 1/10th a gallon of diesel.

run them hard dont run them on slow burn as they carbon up

Diesel will burn slightly hotter than kero but not as clean.

Re sooting up, mines about 1000 hours in, run off a PSU with a fairly short exhaust exit.
I've only ever fed it fuel station diesel.

I rarely run it on full chat, in fact when the workshop is up to temp I tend to turn it down to the lowest setting.
I'm not doubting what you are saying, but I've had no drop in performance and the air quality meter above it has never risen in any nasties.
As said I'm only 1000 hours in, so time will tell - but what I always do is let it go through its shut down cycle completely before turning off.

A tip for those using diesel in their heater. Use diesel biocide. I had a right mess to clear out of one of ours due to infrequent use and the fuel sitting through the summer.

I have run mine on its lowest setting for most the winter, very rarely shutting it down, only to re fill the 20 litre drum its running off, I dont think its that big a problem, I actually think that the number of start ups is more the culprit for sooting

FWIW the 5kw & 8kw heaters are identical, I wish I knew that before I bought mine from Bangood, it came with a built in tranny, so plug & play

This is mine running in my front single garage. If I recall correctly the guys here said "one of the best installs they had ever seen" and "safe as houses" something like that im paraphrasing.



Runs flat out all day - red diesel purely for tax reasons.

That is neat! What did you use for a strap around the main body?
I’m thinking of installing mine outside of the shed as there’s so much sawdust floating around inside- or maybe just add a filter for the warm air inlet (not the combustion air which would be outside anyway)

I used brackets below the heater mount it. I still need to 3D print brackets to hold the PSU on the wall & shorten all wires to make it neat. It takes up very little space and works well for me. I have a stainless steel wall mount fuel tank for it that I will mount and pipe in from outside as soon as this winter is over.
