Diesel cab heater

I fitted the exhaust, filled the tank (half full), started up, get error code 03. Great. Took it all apart, contact cleaner on all the plugs, dried with air line. Back together on bench. Started it up, error code 09. Look in book of words, error codes only go up to 08.
Pump is not pumping. Has voltage at plug. Pump runs if connected to battery. Won't run when plugged in. If I manually fill the pipe with kero, it fires up and runs OK. But the pump won't run.
The heater is connected to a car battery, which is also connected to a battery charger.
And I threw the box away....

That'll still only provide 12V? You need a heftier power supply to get them to 'kick into life' afaik.

It will run OK if I prime the fuel system (settings, OK + down, then up to start pump) but once the initial fuel has gone, the pump doesn't kick in.

I have connected my 30amp power supply in lieu of the battery, no difference at all.
Still error code E-09

According to the list here (https://www.pfjones.co.uk/planar-diesel-heater-fault-codes.html) code 09 is glow plug related.

Seems strange that it will start if primed but not during a normal start, but I guess if it thinks the glow plug isn't working or up to temp it won't start the pump?

From elsewhere - Error code E09 = Glow pin grounded - Check if the glow pin is broken. If true, please replace it; use multimeter to check the resistance value between two leads of the glow pin. The value should be within 1-4 Ohm. Please replace it if not

I've messaged the seller, give him a couple of days, then ask PayPal for a refund. My feedback score is 1420, this is first time I have had any trouble with any item I've bought. His feedback implies very poor communication...

last two years about 5% of the things either dont arrive or pack up in a short time.

The 2kw heater I fitted in the big hut works really well, but the other 5kw heater that was intended for the camper, and is still little used, has developed an error code.

It’s the one to do with the glow plug (sorry, forgotten the number), so I took the plug out, and it works, but as soon as it is in place, it stops working. I’ve tried changing the polarity, and even prayed to various gods, but no luck. Before I trawl facebook (again), is anyone here familiar with this problem, or am I just getting something qquite obvious, or simple, wrong.

mrsbruce, have you the special tool to undo the glow plug? Or a pair of fine pliers?

Are you using the electronic control panel?
I had no luck with it but mine also came with a manual control knob. Works fine and has done for now for probably 5,000 hours of use

I use both the LCD control panel on the heater and the fob which just has on, off, up and down.
Whatever I do, I get error 09. The pump just will not run, except 'manually' through the control panel. The pump can work, it just doesn't want to!

This is the thing I am on about.
£8 on Ebay - mine came with both. No joy with electronic one but this worked perfectly

mrsbruce, have you the special tool to undo the glow plug? Or a pair of fine pliers?

I have a box spanner with a groove in it. I found it after much rummaging, and too much time faffing about with pliers.

That cleared the 09 error, now got 03 error back again. May as well buy a new glow plug.

If the pump is running, try a few rests to get it primed. There is a way of priming them off the buttons

That was the problem with the LCD display I could never prime it - much easier with the knob!

I'm sure mine was the up and down button, seems to be they mess around with the controller functions all the time
