For me it's punches and centres, I will knock a centre on to drill, forget about the punch and next minute it's disappeared. Most annoying though is people who use the drill and don't give it back with the chuck key...
I lost my favourite centre punch a few weeks ago, found it Saturday at the bottom of the tray I keep my pencils & markers in!
I reckon it's the fairies that are hiding things on me. Or it could be the brass monkeys, in the cold weather there are always a few waiting outside the garage wanting some welding done!

for me it's pencils.....
My long departed Grandad said of my dad (cabinet maker) "that boy needs a pencil factory next to him when he works, he loses that many". I think it's genetic.. I'm the same, have to buy the damn things in large boxes now, can't keep them for any length of time... think there must be a Bermuda triangle for pencils....

Pencils...

I just make sure I grab half a dozen every time I visit screwfix, IKEA or Argos.

Keys, last seen 2 weeks ago, house, garage, lockup and a few others, pretty sure I put them on the pillar drill in my garage (I think) but after ripping everything apart in the garage/house/cars I went out and bought new BS 5 lever locks and replaced the lot.
Still no sign of the keys tho
Found them, needed my battery drill for a job, opened up the box and taadaa

Years ago we did a job with some massive fabricated plate girders.
We had 300 M16 s/s studs made that had the ends turned down to an 8mm dia stub . These were an interference fit into a 8mm dia hole to keep them straight , then welded around to the web of the beam.
They were quite a tight fit, so one of the old guys took it upon himself to put them in an old freezer overnight, that was at the back of the workshop. He never told anyone he had done this. Unfortunately he had a heart attack and passed away that night , lovely bloke he was too.
Next day , everyone was looking all over for these studs , but they were never found , so I had to get another 300 made, at short notice , at £9 a pop.
Wasn't till a couple of years later , when the company went pop, and the bailiff was sniffing around , he found the freezer and opened it, and there they were , sat in a box on top of a load of frozen fish the old boy was keeping in it.

Its an age related thing, The older you get the larger the tool finding section grows, Done it many times, and will continue to do so unfortunately,

The tool searching has got worse for me since moving house in the old place i had a small workshop and everything had to have its place. Here everything is everywhere plus the garage has no access from the house so i've got a few areas in the house where i dump tools i may use again soon rather than putting them back where they belong.
