any use turning the post center down to suit the holder or don't u want to chance ruining it
get a mate to do it for him or he might have 3 himself like I haveWhere's he going to find a lathe?
Where's he going to find a lathe?
You need to make a new centre for it.
looks like the old 4 way was an indexing toolpost?
I really don't want to do that. Keep it original.any use turning the post center down to suit the holder or don't u want to chance ruining it
Shove the topslide on a rotary table and mill it?Yes.
The problem is the centre post on the cross slide looks like it's one piece. The diameter is far bigger than the Dickson. If I tried boring out the Dickson that big there would be nothing left of it.
How do other people manage? There must have been 2 different topslides for this lathe gggrrr.
Looks like I am stuck with the 4 way and messing around with shims for the centre height.
Really really peeved
I'd have it off or mid it myselfColchester student had a similar design. Some people cut them off. Drill tap a new post in to suit the dickson
Not happy.
I bought a nice Dickson QCTP and tool holders a while ago.
It is the right size for my Colchester Triumph. They were available as an option.
Just removed the 4 way.
No way is it going to fit. Look at the size of the centre post.
Any ideas?

Whoa whoa.
first thing first. Take the top slide off an see if that post can be unbolted
you’ve got a full length cross slide, you can use a rear toolpost for some things.
Mill the thing off I reckon. Drill through and counterbore from underneath. They are casted as one brad.
