Deep hole markers - felt tip not pencil

I've had a few of these for a while and they have been ok, but not great for the cost.

For marking through onto walls or whatever there was something similar to the green thing above on dragons den that fired chalk into the hole. Can’t remember what it’s called but I did see them in B&Q a few years later

there the markers that are shown in post 2 . wouldnt be precise on accurate metal work but ok for marking near enough on brickwork or steel for fastenings and rawlplugs

Whats your second job - Q ? funky, I like that, will have a go.

I see them being useful for certain jobs -this place is a bloody nightmare....
Trouble with a scribe in tight places is getting a full outline.

I like @8ob set especially the holder.

Those holders are just thin, pressed plate affairs. Not even guaranteed to still be in one piece when they reach you. I got mine from Chronos. Various places sell them, in both metric & imperial.

For all the skint bodgers out there(Me included) You only need to make one transfer punch and the rest is just bushings away.

I make these for transferring holes. They are handy when you can't get in to spot through. You line up the existing hole in one side of the tool and either scribe through or spot through the other side. Easily made from a bit of scrap. I've made them with a short spigot brazed into one side the same diameter as the hole being transfered.

Took a punt on the cheapo Bigthumb ones I linked to, arrived today, good reach but splodgy.
Also ordered the firing pigment type, also ordered metric transfer punch set from RDG

I use a pica marker, they are the best you can get.

When the nib gets bad I flip it and keep doing it seems to sort the mashed end up.

Also refillable eco-warrier spirit

You can kill them off if they get used as a centre punch, I just give them a light tap to leave a witness mark and then give that mark a belt with a proper punch and persuadious. Bought my set when god was a boy and they are still good.
