Deep hole markers - felt tip not pencil

A lathe to turn transfer punches/screws is best

For rough marking I got one of these which is quite good and refillable. The lid needs an extra hard push until it clicks, or it will dry out, guess how I know

Took a punt on the cheapo Bigthumb ones I linked to, arrived today, good reach but splodgy.
Also ordered the firing pigment type, also ordered metric transfer punch set from RDG

Do you know of or could you point me in the direction of Aircraft Tool Shops? Any one will do.

It doesn’t state the hole diameter required to push thru.
Looks useful.

My concern would be accuracy. A mm out at the top (tilted) would mean a lot more at the bottom of the hole.

I’ve never bought from them because there ain’t enough lube in the world for that but my (helicopter engineer) pal does.

I use the site a lot as they’ve a good data section and they list MILSPEC For everything.

My concern would be accuracy. A mm out at the top (tilted) would mean a lot more at the bottom of the hole.

The firing-pigment type produce a jet/cone of green paint that travels down the hole and adheres to the surface to be marked. The green dot produced will be the same diameter as the hole it has travelled down. In that respect, it does not locate the centre of the hole, more makes a photocopy of the hole. Once you remove the top object, you then locate the centre of the green dot by other means.

For marking through onto walls or whatever there was something similar to the green thing above on dragons den that fired chalk into the hole. Can’t remember what it’s called but I did see them in B&Q a few years later

For making into a hole on brickwork thru think things I use a screw thru a reduced sized "fisher" type plug to center it up. Pop it in and hit with hammer.

I fancy a set of transfer punches for metal type projects (more toys!)
