DC Tig video

Still messing about with my Mobius cameras (they're awesome for the money), decided to film a little DC tig job last night.

The mighty midget is missing the slide-in wheelbarrow style handles, I decided to make a start on making something.

Brilliant camera for the money, but be warned, the waterproof housing isn't underwater rated (ask me how I know )

I could weld all day with this thing, it has such a nice stick arc, a nice tig arc, it starts in all weathers on the first pull and the only thing vaguley electrical that can go wrong is a rotary switch... Unlike the weldanpower 250 in the background that is currently in bits...

First outing, decided to attach the waterproof housing to the back end of our submersible instruments in portland harbour... upon pulling the thing to the surface, I see a stream of bubbles pouring from the housing. That was the end of camera number 1!

Tried to shoot another video tonight, didn't turn out well... What a job. Fixing a stainless exhaust that had been mig'd with carbon wire

Now I remember why I don't weld thin wall stainless tubing..... Ever!

That arc sounds really smooth.
It sounds like it's pouring electrons into the pool.

It is certainly a nice tig arc. It drinks 2 stroke mix though

Edit: actually, I lie... gallon an hour would be about right at around 130a, so not too bad.

Anything that takes a gallon of two stroke and gives you an hour of fun is a very good thing IMHO

It could only be more fun if you could somehow make it work better by getting your head down as aerodynamic as possible.

I love em, outboards, generators, welders... The more 2 stroke the better

Well you need something mate otherwise it's just watching a random guy welding. Subtitles are ok but if I don't get on with em as they change too quick for my slow reading ability.
