Nice looking work. What are the advantages of going unvented? Do you need an expansion vessel every time?

yes it that sort of system much better than a tank in the loft area also gives better hot water pressure as well just needs renewing every few years though on those valves only garanteed for a couple of years

nice work there kayos but im surprised you didnt chop down the wood first and fit it to the tank area

Yeah it's on a beam, customer built the new support, the old one was manky chipboard

depends on the tank you want to purchase they can be expensive depending on what you want to connect up to them

Is that pump pressurised or mains fed? Most new builds round here are mains fed which is ok until the water service turn the supply off. Then you have no water at all, hot or cold.

Mains fed, I cant remember the last time my water was unexpectedly turned off

Happens regularly round here, that's when we're glad of our old style loft tank system! For 2 winters in a row our water supply froze for 3 weeks, that was fun carrying buckets of water into the attic to fill the tank!

Lovely pipework there. Fell out with my brother in law twenty years ago over a job like that, even I was impressed with myself. He maintained it was a mess and the pipework should not have been visible! Went past the house some years later and noticed all of the new grey exterior pipework had white push fittings on it

Everywhere.

Oh yes, I wasn't getting paid either.

ouch, I'm getting my old vented cylinder replaced later this year, and the plumber is charging £340 for supply and fitting. its only been there for 40 years.

Different job, £340 would get you about half of the cylinder I fitted..

I suppose all this mains fed gear is OK where there is sufficient flow/pressure, not the case around here and there have been a lot of very dissatisfied folk hoodwinked into believing this is the way to go. Place we are working ATM gets a dribble at best and if anyone else uses water down the lane the water actually goes back down the pipe.

Place we are working ATM gets a dribble at best and if anyone else uses water down the lane the water actually goes back down the pipe.

There are options for that but they are not cheap. Mains boost is ok but accumulators and break tanks are the only way to properly boost poor water flow

That doesn’t sound much good, sometimes it takes 3 or 4 flushes, you would be there all day!

they should shell out and buy a mains cold water pressure pump then . they only come in with a drop in pressure

If you fitted one of those and it was running at the same time someone downstream opened a tap all you would pump is air Clients had a borehole installed

Other option is a 300l accumulator, basically runs the house and fills when it can.

Boreholes are pretty good but the water can be fine to drink but I've known it destroy copper pipes. Some of the treatment available these days is clever stuff
