Cutting granite worktop in situ

all the granite tops i have come across have been bonded with mastic adhesive to the top of the units

As he says in his first post: " If it were a straight run it may be feasible to take it out, but its bonded to the breakfast bar so would be a massive job to remove and make good again."

What did they used to say at school - "read the f**kin' question" - or my maths teacher did anyway

Think you are a bit mixed up here...i was telling Gaz that they are generally bonded and cant be moved hence why i have been posting all night that a 12" blade is needed to cut in situ as i did read the 1st post...now what did they say at school again?

Straightforward enough job for a diamond blade on a mini-grinder. The tops are what 40mm thick? You can't cut that deep with a 5" blade but the only bit that will be visible will be the top and the front.
You'll need to mark a line, cut just off it and grind it back or just fit a nice looking trim on the edge that's up against the fridge.
