When I started in my working life (Before Google) I would buy the best tools I could afford.
Some lasted, still in use.
Others did not.
If any one knows Trowbridge. The town centre shop called Knees.
They had a semi decent tool section, my first few tools came from there.
Bought that clamp from Ebay; listing doesn't exist anymore just tried to find it, but the description on my order notes said 'G CLAMP 6" 150MM FINE THREAD WOODWORK CARPENTERS CAST IRON DIY SILVERLINE 427629'
I only have two c clamps, the other one came from B&Q and seems much better quality.

The end started when they sold one side to pay death duties.
But the death knoll was when they did not move with the times

I got most of my clamps 4, 6 and 8 inch from JTF, they are Rolson clamps. Now I'm not going to say they are the best but I haven't had a single one fail on me in ten years unlike the ones I bought from B and Q when I was desperate! Very reasonably priced too. I've a few punches from JTF, Rolson again and they too have been excellent. If you have a branch local it's well worth a visit.
