In a word, no. I've used mine at full tilt for long periods and never had the overheat light come on.Hi all,
I bought a cheapo Cut 50 plasma cutter from eBay. I cut about 35cm of 3mm steel and the OC / overheat light came on. I know you get what you pay for but it was operational for less than a minute. Is this normal?
Near max and about 60 psi.
a reminder of what i got off urselfIn a word, no. I've used mine at full tilt for long periods and never had the overheat light come on.
As above, check consumables and connections but you might want to see about swapping it with the supplier.
It’s a new one.a reminder of what i got off urself
for cut50
as a guide i asked skotl for some info
TBH, I set the air at about 65psi and never touch it after that.
12 mm would be at 50A
8mm at 30A
6mm at 20A
3mm at 15A
my advice play with it and learn each thickness as best as you can or get on with whats needed
check for leaks and blockages
is it a new cut50 or used one ?
I reckon so. If it’s running so hot so quickly I guess some of the mosfets are knackered so the others are working overtime. Just a matter of time before it goes bang.Return it... it's broken.
The gauge on the front of the of cutter say 65 psi. I ramped this up to 95psi. Same problem.please check important parts
nozzle gun for any air leaks
check nozzles dont use old consumables
so turn down your settings and try using your gun against the metal feel with other hand for wind blowing outside of the nozzle
with someone else same thing and check you internal air connections check for any leaks internal and external even the dial can leak air
I didnt connect mine i use the rear one instead bought new
check each connection back to compressor
sounds silly but loss of air will fail at the nozzle
if after all this its still the same faulty machine
I always use 100psi too but my plasma cutter has an internal electronic pressure regulator that sets the required torch pressure. Does yours?I always run my cut 40 at 100PSI and Ive never had any problems cutting anything up to 8mm. Sounds like a lack of air pressure might be responsible to me.
