Cut 50 - How to add a pilot arc?

you could of pulled the plasma out and done the job in the time it takes to discuss all this...having had 2 air start machines and currently owning a strike start i cant really see any advantage to having air start EXCEPT it looks cool as f k showing your mates who dont know plasma cutters.

did you ever find a suitable resistor? Also how did you decide on a 4R7 resistor?

There was no reason for the 4R7 value, it's what I had laying around.

I have a hall effect module on order from Aliexpress, when it turns up I'm going to try it with a contactor I already have to switch the pilot arc on and off.

I've found a cheap 5R9 50W resistor and I'm going to try that as it seems like it should do the job with all the fag packet calculations I've done

@KemppiFrog my Stahlwerk was only £100 to me so I'm not too worried about the warranty as of course I have no reciept.
