Crankshaft rebuild, restore

I'm currently restoring a 1974 Suzuki GT750 motorcycle. It’s a two stroke water-cooled triple engine.

The crankshaft needed a full overhaul which required strip down and replace bearings, seals, conrods etc.

First i made a jig to hold the crank whilst i pressed the components apart. 6mm tubular steel.

Pullers were used to remove the bearings and a 30 tonne press to separate the crank webs. When the crank pins release they go with a hell of a bang.

Prior to strip down the crank webs were numbered and punch marks made to aid re-alignment when rebuilding.

Nearly there. Engine run up to temperature and sounds like a cracker. Some cosmetics to complete but won't be for a few weeks as I'm away. Regards. Chris
