Crankcase joint?

Putting together a little Suzuki 2T outboard and wondering what is normal for the gasket-less crankcase joint surfaces. I have done it a while back, but can't recall. Current looks a bit like silicone. Very little needed.

I have Sika 11FC, a PU glue mastic, think it is OK for the temp.

You want the Three Bond Black as has been said.

This is the Suzuki part number.

It's not cheap but when it's 8 hours work if there's a leak between the main cases it's worth every penny to do it right first time round!.

Loctite 5923 , with silk thread reinforcing works well with oil, but not so sure about contact with modern fuels.
Loctite 500 series flange sealants are very,very good at resisting modern fuels, however....

What happened to Hermatite? I've not assembled a bike motor for donkeys years, and it seemed then that everyone had a tube of the stuff!
Also Hylomar was another common one.

Blue Hylomar was always a sign that something had been bodged. Always hated the stuff. Its still around though.

Not seen Hermatite for years. Maybe same company ? Used to be red and gold, and green ?

I use Wellseal as a gasket dressing, and it never, ever, leaks. Its intended for gasketless machined faces really, but for pressed steel covers and oil pans, I use red silicone HTR 730.

Jap engine case mating surfaces are so good anything would do the job, only ever used rtv silicone on British bikes.

Ducati crankcases are assembled with Threebond. Available in silver and black and Ducati dealership.
Wouldn’t even consider Wellseal or Hermetite nowadays, have stripped engines in the 1960s and found oil ways blocked with red Hermetite!

Wellseal, as used by Rolls-Royce.
Never had a problem with it.
But in tge oast I've been through Hermatite of all colours, and Blue Hylomar.
Wellseal is liquid, so can be applied very precisely with a brush.

Properly, as in sparingly ? I agree, but it seems to be beyond the ability of most people that use it.
