Cooking oil as cutting fluid??

I seem to remember some years ago certain press oils and cutting fluids being banned as when heated the fumes given off were carcinogenic,So be careful what you breathe.

Hmm which ones then? wasn't that the same time they banned those oil based anti spatter sprays?

Unfortunately I don,t no what brands they were I was just a lowly welder and not the brightest bulb on the tree.
I did read an article where machinist and welders were presenting with lung complaints and it was apparently traced to the smoke vapour of slurry oil? and oil contaminated weld set ups.
I think a lot of oils and sprays were changed to a safer alternative at that time.
Thankfully employers and employees are a lot more health orientated these days.

Yeah, we had one of our robot operators die from lung cancer at that time....OFCOURSE that had nuffin' to do with all the oil fumes we breathe in every day...

And most of the big employers are only health orientated when it suits them...

Also there was a problem with testicular cancer for machine operators who put rags soaked with cutting oil in their pockets or got their overalls wet from leaning over lathes. (blokes only, of course)
I use Orapi Oracoup 252 soluble cutting oil. €63 for 5lt. Which I thought was quite enough.

Yea male testicles are a bit delicate ,cancer of the testicles/ scrotum was a common complaint of chimney sweeps ,
watch word wash your hands before and after going to the loo
