Utukku, there was a bandsaw up for grabs on the forum just a couple of weeks ago, in your area too, £80. Might still be available, check the used equipment section.
I think that might be because no manufactures make them (that I know of) apart from huge ones that most people couldn't fit in their shop. Maybe someone should be making small ones like the small rapidor's again. And also, like you said, their slow but most people seem to forget they could do something else whilst its cutting (like tidy upTheres never seems to be any forum love anymore for a old power hacksaw as a option for general workshop duties and they pop up fairly cheap now and again if you keep looking for this reason. Theyre a bit slow to cut sometimes but I wouldn't be without mine, I just set it off cutting and wander off and do something else, then I hear a thud a bit later as the offcut drops into the bin I leave alongside for that purpose. I regulary jam large diameter parts into it, use it to saw up car halfshafts etc, though I did have to replace the blade this year after only two years use. Its quiet too, just this rythmic slish slish noise. I have a vertical bandsaw and various other options, but the donkey saw is the one I use the most.
I NEED a picture of your one. And thanks for clearing up the whole coldsaw thing, everyone had me wondering if evolution made a real coldsaw.
Wow, that is very nice. How accurate is the cut from it? And also, did you buy or make the shafts (or just had them lying around
Thanks.Square enough for fabrication with tube, though I cut a lot of 15x40mm bar too. .
Yes, it goes through the 15x40 mm OK. There is not an option for a finer blade on the Evolution list. I use a pot and brush of cutting fluid, but it would last better with a continuous flow system. Since I built it, I have lost or chipped four teeth on the blade, acceptable for the use. Note to self: order a fresh blade..Does that corse blade cut steel bar ok??
interesting. I have a slow speed real chop saw and it has an HSS blade but does not seem to last that long. Trying to find a cost effective option as a replacement...lolYes, it goes through the 15x40 mm OK. There is not an option for a finer blade on the Evolution list. Mine has lots of teeth to the inch whats the benefits of finer blade and how course a blade can you use to cut steel??You can get the HSS blades re sharpened over and over until they are too small to be useful, then you can cut them up to make all manner of things like lathe tools etc.

Is this like the blade you have?

How course or fine the blade needs to be depends on the material and the speed.
My saw has two speeds so I use a medium tooth count blade slow for thick material and fast for thin material.
What's the baleigh industrial machine in the back, I've often admired their stuff.Mine o nly has one speed. Quite slow. Its a bit like this one only smaller at 8 inch blade. View attachment 46363
