This pic gives a bit of info on the grounding for the machine.
The control cab has a 16mm earth cable that terminates to a large copper bus bar. The torch mounting plate is daisy chained to the Main carriage and then again to the gantry, this is then bought back to the earth bar. There is another 16mm cable dedicated to the frame. The 35mm cable from the Hypertherm is tied directly to the busbar and then another length of 35mm is connected to the water bed. I have also connected the remaining cable and crocodile clamp to the busbar to help ground irregular pieces.
Once the machine is sited there will also be a earth rod sunk through the floor and tied to the busbar.

I was pretty much the same, did 2 100mm test cuts then started on fancy stuff.

Can I ask any Plasma CNC users our there:
Hypertherm guidelines for 2mm MS are 1.5mm cut height and 128v Arc.
When I set 1.5 without the THC and do a test cut I'm at around 105v which is what I've set.
128v is way to high.
Now I know 128v is a guideline but 23v out is massive, how do other people parameters compare?

Can't help with specifics as I don't have a Hypertherm but are you feeding at the rate mentioned in the documents?

My voltages are a lot lower then Hypertherm state but as said I don't have a Hypertherm so just thought that was what it was.
My voltages are relatively consistent for material type varying only about 10v or so from thin to thick.
For steel and stainless the range I see is 98-110, Alu usually 115 to around 124.

Different machine altogether but my R tech runs at 105v on 2mm

Just cut some 6mm.
I've got about 3deg bevel from top to bottom which seems to be within Hypertherm's expected range.
These plate's were imperial and at the top of the cut are within 0.002" size.
They are of course bigger when measured at the bottom due to the bevel.
