Ok, Ping and ipconfig in screenshot below. There was no real difference when the FlashAir was plugged into the laptop or the SZGH control with regards the speed of accessing the drive/files etc. Will post a vid up showing the speed of things, it is actually slightly faster in the vid than it can be but still slow in comparison to what it was at home, it was basically instantaneous at home where I transferred quite a large video file in a second or so.
What the access point you're using at the workshop and how is it configured? Are you using the same one for internet access, as well as machine tool access?
The new Flash Air wireless SD card is the only machine interface you have that's on wifi, rather than hardwired network cable?
I have two network cards, one is connected to my modem/router for internet access and only my desktop and laptop(wifi) connects to the Internet.
The machines are all connected to a second network card and that goes to a switch where the machine are hard wired.
Yes FlashAir is the only machine that is connected via wifi unless you also include the laptop but as said it is not connected to any machine, it is just a standalone laptop.
On a brighter note, just got the tape for the printer and tried out a white on clear and a black on silver.
Thought the white on clear looked like it might work better but there was something still missing so I printed with a border so I could merge the vertical white lines and I think it looks pretty good, shame I couldn't make the top line match with the original top line on the control but still looks good IMO.
Oh, meant to say regarding the network, connecting to the other machine via the wired network has similar delays to that of the FlashAir, sometimes fast, sometimes really slow but most times about the same as in the above video.
I decided to plug in the modem/router to the switch and I had to set the card to obtain IP address automatically, once I had done that I could get on the internet. I was also able to see the laptop and FlashAir and accessing the FlashAir was instant, just like at home.
Ok so now I couldn't see the other machines. I went to the Chiron and set the adapter to Auto and although I could see the computer I couldn't gain access. I next set the address to 192.168.1.** and I could then get access but it was really slow and after going a bit deeper it just wasn't wanting to let me see.
So I have put everything back to the way it was and I am back to the slow FlashAir access and sometime fast, sometimes slow access to the other machine.
Not sure if there is a way to delete everything network wise and start again and then that would also bring up the question as to the best way to set it up and more importantly would I manage without cursing and swearing at computers
Seem to have the network sorted out thanks to @eSCHEn
He messaged me last night asking if there was a reason one of my network cards had two IPv4 addresses. I hadn't even noticed that it had and it definitely wasn't intentional so when I got the to workshop today I had a look and in the advanced tab it was just showing the one
Did an ipconfig from command prompt and again it was only showing one so that was weird. Even weirder however was I had set 192.168.3.1 in the adapter but ipconfig was showing as 192.168.3.160 , where it was getting that from I have no idea.
Ok so next I went back into the settings and deleted the address from the advanced tab and set it up again, this time in command prompt it showed correctly so I tried to see if there was much difference. It was definitely quicker but still had a lag.
Another thing @eSCHEn had said to try was to just use the one card, have my modem/router connected to that and connect my switch to the router. Did that and now the FlashAir was very fast or at least a heck of a lot faster. It seems to lag initially and I am thinking it is maybe in sleep mode or something but once accessed I can browse it and transfer files very quickly.
That seemed to be that sorted but I now didn't have any of the other machines showing. I went to them one at a time and changed the IPv4 from 192.168.3.** to 192.168.1.** and after a second or two all were visible and all very fast to access. I tried a few times even shut down all computers a few times and retried and all is good so looks like @eSCHEn has sorted my network issues out for me
Vid here of me copying a file from my computer, opening the FlashAir, making a folder and then pasting the file, also browse the Beaver NC5 and the Chiron FZ12.
Yep all seems sorted, just have to learn the different G Code compared to what I am used to, then again most coding is via CAM and I already have the post processor for that done and it seems to be correct.
Very happy with the way it turned out, also quite pleased with the other two buttons using the white on clear tape rather than the black on white. I may get some wider tape for them however.
