un-related but ive sent a small snap-on impact gun back as when i open the box it read "made in china"...everything i buy now i find where its made and honestly its shocking as 95% of hardware these days comes from the east talk about a complete 180 degree economic turnaround.

Isn't country of origin poorly defined in law? Something along the lines of 'the last place that a significant or substantial change/process occured' which means that assembled in the UK can be enough to claim made in the UK

that is my understanding... build car in xxxx, send to uk, attach doors...made in uk

Good grief !! I haven't bought any Snap-On stuff for a while now as I've accumulated an extensive range in the past, but if I do in the future and discover it's of Eastern origin it wiil be rejected. When I buy Snap-On I want made in the USA, end of !!
Actually I was at the Autosport show today and came across a MAC stand. Never really rated MAC in the past but the stuff they had there really opened my eyes ! Also didn't realise they own Facom either ! Bought some nifty Facom ratchet wrenches with 2 sizes per end !!
