What is the consensus on these type of spindles, they mention 6007 and 6006 bearings no mention on any type of angular or taper bearing

for the cost of them make your own
and at this would you buy one of them
Ha ha nope, not at all.
Things used to come in from China and Hongkong without charges but these days are long gone.
The cartridge spindle seems ok but the stand alone seems horrible standard issue chinesium.
A spindle isnt hard to make but you’re going to need a cylindrical grinder to get any real accuracies and to machine nicely after hardening
Nah, it has been going on for quite a while now, never used to get stung from Hongkong but one day a parcel turned up. They had ignored the declared value and looked inside, found the guys flyer, looked on his website and got the prices and charged me accordingly, bleeding barstewards that they were especially as I had done a deal with the guy and got them 1/3 cheaper than his listed pricesProbably because the dollar has become so strong against the pound people are buying less from the States. might have reduced the customs workload dealing with US exports allowing them to focus more on the China/Hong Kong stuff.

Have been charged VAT and handling charges on everything since then, maybe they just don't like me
In this video on a fadal clean up you can see the fabricated body.
Looks a viable project to build something on the same scale ish
The Chiron has belleville washers but not that many and I was surprised at the amount. Couldn't work out how it could clamp so well as it did then I got my hands on some drawings and it uses precision ball bearings and a hardened sleeve to lock the drawbar in place. It is very tight tolerances for the adjustment but after 30 years it was still perfect.Fadals were not bad for budget machines. Liked a bellville washer in the drawbar though
Where do you work, didn’t think there was anything left in our forsaken county? We’ve got a union hbm at work. Such a useful tool. Would love one
