Well a long time coming......but finally fitted the voltage-free switch. I plugged it in and the drill spun as a reminder. 
First time in anger......So I thought now's the time.
Had the part waiting.
Cut plate and also put the fuse in the live circuit (was in the neutral)
Magnet isn't very powerful on thinnish sections. The switch is mandatory in the EU, but not in UK and rest of the (3rd) world.
