That's exactly what the extract says 'This sub clause is not applicable'.Whether we're part of Europe is irrelevant as I understand it. If the standard applies in Europe then unless an act of parliament has revoked the standard in the UK then it is still applicable as far as I'm aware (Brexit just gives us the right to revoke it if we want to). Of course I'm not an expert, so if that quote above is from a recently updated BS standard, then ignoring everything I've said!
On Jan 1st 2022 the CE mark is replaced by a UKCA mark. I would imagine lots of standards will be turfed out if they are in the way of profit. De-regulating the finance section so it can handle 'dirty money' is happening.
But that's politics and I don't want to get a flame war started.
There is a raft of documents that I've been supplied with and it's sounds as is the authorities don't fully understand what to do either, as it's all pretty ambigious reading.
Anyways I shall be fitting a voltfree switch. Again even if it's law, it doesn't mean it will be actively enforced. The seller is not breaking the law by selling it on eBay UK, but would be if selling it in the EU. Which leaves me with one last thought on the unit being supplied from Switzerland (2nd item in 1st post), IS that legal, they ARE in the EU? Or are they neutral ;-)
I suppose we'll be getting chlorinated chicken from US to take our minds off it?
To get back to the thread.
I just don't like power tools to spin when being plugged in, because the switch is in the ON position. I'll post pics of mod if it's possible to fit. (the seller has given me a substantial discount (pending) so it's worth doing)
