Get an advent tape measure. I use them all the time, much prefer them over a Stanley tape.
Under 8 quid from Screwfix.

With the dewalt combi drill that has the 1.3 amp batteries, just buy and additional one from eBay that has a 2amp or greater capacity.

went with the hitatchi in the end as it is lithium ion and that will take up to 5amp battery which can be had cheap every now and then if i needed one

picking it up tomorrow. First time i have ever had to wait for something in screwfix, which from what i gather is quite impressive, most people moan they never have any stock in, ive been using them a while now and never had to order something in til now

Think they are cutting back on stock in shops and rely on people waiting until next day or so , they get stock deliveries every day so the items come from central warehouse

yeah, I haent bought anything 'big' like this from there for a while, usually its just bits and pieces to keep my stocks up of the things I use most, socket fronts, ceiling roses, light switches etc

first impressions are good. Feels well built, nice to hold, and it appears to go through masonry better than my dewalt.

About two years ago I got a bargin on Gumtree, a brand new Bosch 14.4 GSB PRO with 2 li-on batteries, think I paid about £85 for it.
The guy had bought then had a major op and had to retire, when I went to collect it he was still on crutches.
I think it has more grunt than the Hitachi but they are still mega bucks to buy from a shop

well both batteries are fully charged in less than 90 mins. Just put about 40 holes in some scrap breeze blocks and it handled it.fine. 8mm wood screws into wood with no pilot with ease and sinks the heads too. Cant fault it

The Hitachi is a good drill for the money and I would gladly buy another buy I could not resist the Bosch at that price
My wife always used to ask why I needed so many drills but you can never have enough tools , can you ?

I put it in a paint can and sit it on a shaker for 5-8 mins
