There is something about an Alfa, the v6 s always sound great.

I had a diesel 159 as a hire car in Turin for 4 weeks in 2007 and even though it was only a diesel it always felt special when you got in.

The wife had a giullietta until about a year ago, don't think I would actually own another though. The build quality and interior fit, finish was pretty shocking. (I might change my mind for a nice 159 v6 in red though )

I used to have a 1976 Saab 95 (not the later 9-5) estate with a 1500 V4 Ford Taunus engine (and column change with freewheel - legacy of the original 2 stroke powered version) I used to love the rumble it made.
Mate has a diesel S type that has a 2.7 V6 diesel (I think twin turbo). Same engine, albeit different turbos, used in Discovery and an option (Police / Ambulance etc) for the RWD Transit.

I was never a fan of mk2 and 3 but the mk1 is a great looking car in my opinion. The only problem is they are now of the age where they are getting hard to find and are going up in value.

My mate's got a road going one with electronic programmable ignition - and nitrous!

Never really looked at crossfires, think its because in weary of any yank motor that needs.to go around corners a lot, but from what i can find they are decent drives

Think out of the box (no tittering please!) Moto Guzzi made a nice 500cc V8 a few years ago, stuff that in an Isetta bubble car and you get the noise, excusivity and WOW factor. Handling might be challenging, but who drives their cars to their limits in this age...?

But I did have both of those SAABs. 2T was great fun the V4 was OK but not interesting. Still had the free wheel though.

Might be over posting...But, I was driving the 2T SAAB round Trafalgar Square (on a quite day..) when the gearchange flopped into my lap, since it was in neutral, I coasted to a halt against the inside curb. Observed by two Police blokes I opened the bonnet and found that a pin had dropped out of the linkage. So I walked back round the square and found the offending bit (there really was no traffic that day) Put it back with some sticky tape and set off. The two plod applauded me with clapped hands. Have to say that is the only time they have.

I know a few roads that require a decent amount of grip at the speed limit, brilliant for bikes, fun in the right car too I would imagine, just never been up them in the right car, although my father had a tuned celica (same shape ass the project binky celica donor) and that was great fun on the country roads but lacked the noise, was whisper quiet all the time

If you can downgrade your lust for V8 noise down to a V6 then S Type Jags can be bought cheaply leaving spare pennies for a more free flowing exhaust system

While I love the sound of my straight 6, it isn't a V8. If you long for the burble of a V8 then no other configuration will give you that.

I have had the misfortune of having to work on a 3.0 s type, never again lol, plus for some reason no one will insure me with one

very true but the government wring you out to squeeze as much cash out of you as they can and when done put you through some rollers just to make sure

well, I have just been informed by the missus that we are moving...or are looking to move any way. in all fairness our house is pathetically small, so its not all bad. she wants to move about 20 miles away so maybe a nice big v8 might be the answer as most of my driving will be on motorway/dual carriage way if we do move.

4.4 bmw v8 and an auto box sounds good to me

the neighbours are part of the reason. I finished the car today, and noticed her watching every now and then so I made a sign and left it on the windscreen that read 'I can see you, if you would like any further information please feel free to ask, I dont bite unless you ask me to'. she apparently didn't like that and went out for the day, huffing and sighing all the way up the street to catch her bus whilst moaning on the phone to someone about why she shouldn't have to put up with people fixing cars outside...ah well, she wont have to for much longer eh

might be lucky enough to get a garage, but not on my budget in the areas we would need so I am not too far from work that its not logical to travel, and that we are not too far from my father and her grandmother.

I have however hit the road running and requested details of a property, concealed 2 car drive with electric gates and cctv, large garden for the baby and dogs (and a nice new shiney 12x8 shed for me), quite a spacious house, 3 bed, living room, dining room and fitted kitchen, fitted bathroom with new shower unit and separate bath, close to work, close to motorway to get back to visit people and have them visit us etc...and its 35 quid a month less than im paying now for a 2 bed, tiny drive you can barely fit a car on and a garden that measures 13x19' and is mostly badly broken patio slabs and mud. I like it, she will like it because it has a huge kitchen, and if it comes to it I can get a gazebo for the drive to do any lengthy amounts of work (got that idea from watching the guy over the road sell his golf shell earlier, had to put running gear on to get it on trailer and they brought a gazebo due to weather forcast lol).

the bond is only half what I will get back for leaving this place in good condition, they don't mind dogs (but strangely no cats allowed) and to eb honest it will be nice to get away from this tiny shoebox, especially as my rent is due to go up another 55 quid in 2 months, the rent at the property I want to view is fixed for 2 years, so which ever way you look at it im saving at least 90 quid a month, cheaper council tax, better refuse service (collected every week as opposed to every fortnight here), oh and as a bonus in one of the pics of the hallway there is a gun cabinet bolted under the stairs, so I know they wont have an issue there either

as soon as I know im leaving and have somewhere to go I am going to notify the nice neighbours and then im just going to grind all day every day, then im gonna weld all the bits back together, then grind again, and weld again and so on
