Cheap impact guns

Bought a Clarke 12v one to use on the Hymer on the basis that I could run it anywhere if I had to remove a wheel, Airgun not much use at the side of a motorway. Knocked off the clutch and variator nuts on the Burgman easily, very difficult without it.

I don't do any spraying - if I did I would need some new hoses - all mine are dripping in oil.

To be honest I don't have a dry outlet without oil with a quick fit fiting on it.

The only non oiled air we use if for tyre inflators and these are hard piped into the hoses (I done this years ago as the lads kept using non oiled air hoses with my air tools).

At least were sorted with our airlines and thats the best scenario for both of us.

Well its arrived undid a couple of bolts no problem the big bonus for me is it has a light on it, I will report back once I have done some proper work, just waiting for the Chinese Ebay Battery now

Totally agree, with old lorries the battery ones dont touch them despite the claims, a good 1" CP air unit always fetches them off and without breaking sweat.

I have a 1" CP air wrench that I regularly use and it makes light work of hgv wheel nuts. But if I get one that the CP won't shift I use my other 1" wrench it's a predator. It's much slower than the CP I think it's single hammer but it will undo anything. I paid £50 for it from a car boot sale I've never seen another one.

Only done one set of wheels cant fault it, bought a Chinese batter 5AH fro 20 from Ebay, very happy

On the works truck I normally get one puncture in a year. In one month I’ve had three on the truck and two on the trailer. Scunnered is putting it mildly. I blame the windfarm workers, nothing looks secure in the back of their trucks when they’re bouncing along.

420Nm? How much torque should be needed to undo these nuts/studs?

That should eat any job that has not been overtightened?

The problems that may arise are longevity related - both the power side and the mechanical parts. You can’t tell until they fail. Cheaper ones can be expected to fail sooner, after the warranty expires, than the better quality ones.

It uses the standard "20v Team" Parkside batteries. The original in-store Lidl price was £69.99 with one 4AH battery & charger.

I bought one and so far it is great, I have a few CP air but it saves me firing up the compressor at home, was always on at work!

Never ever used a 1/2" battery impact wrench. Picked one up once and thought - "this is heavy, first time I drop it will smash to pieces"

My milwaukee has taken a flying leap off a 3.5m high floor onto a 2" thick slate floor and didn't suffer at all. Not sure I'd want to do it regularly but it didn't smash to pieces.

I used Eds 18v Milwaukee a few weeks ago which is a bit of a beast but found it a bit big and heavy for what it does.

To be fair it is the second (as opposed to fourth now?) generation one so quite a bit bulkier than the latest versions. But then again undoing propshaft bolts with a 1900Nm impact gun was typical Bob style - overkill!
