Well..we don't, or I don't seem to be having much luck on this front.
Purchased a Chinese special two years ago for logging a couple of fallen trees, and other than having the chains sharpened it went well. 20in bar at 60cc or thereabouts. Well, its dead, seized solid so will no doubt need a new piston, cylinder and crank, £40 in parts, ish!
So, I purchased a Shindaiwa 500 secondhand from ebay, described as perfect working order. My left bum cheek it is. Had a bash today at logging some of the 7t of wood I've got stored, and under any kind of load, the saw stalls, even more so when its been left to warm up. Have an inkling that it'll be the coil, but its the first time I've used it in the two days I've had it.
The Shindaiwa is meant to be on par with Stihl. Sadly it seems parts aren't available for it, which will be why the seller wanted it sold and accepted my offer.
All I want is a decent bloody saw, that will cut logs up, so I can split and burn them. Is it too much to ask?
Half tempted to send it back under the ebay guarantee thing, and buy a Stihl 181..!
