Cellulose is not particularly hard wearing so any abrasive polish will remove some which is what you see on the cloth, a none abrasive polish shouldn't remove the paint but because none lacquered Cellulose is not UV protected it will dull over time.
This is why in my opinion its better to lacquer it afterwards even if safety concerns make you choose a 1k acrylic clear as this gives UV protection which in itself means you don't need a abrasive polish
That’s sort of the advise I was after as to how to protect the paint best and whether a clear coat/laquer would be best used to seal/protect the paint.
