I am currently restoring a Morris Minor Traveller and am using Cellulose paint (Old English White) and am pondering if I should use a lacquer on the wheels and on the body.
I used cellulose partly because I do not like the 'dipped in plastic' look of 2k finishes (and cellulose is easier to correct all the mistakes I make!) but was wondering if anyone has good experience with it. I am aware that I do not need to lacquer cellulose paint but was hoping it will be more durable and hold a shine for longer than the base paint. Can anyone tell me:
How durable is the lacquer compared to the paint (in particular for some extra protection for the wheels)?
How long does it hold a shine for compared to just cellulose paint?
How difficult is it to spray - I know some lacquers tend to be very thin and can be more difficult to spray than paint?
Does it have any safety problems over and above spraying cellulose paint?
Am I correct in my belief that the end result (failing any mistakes on my part) will end us glossier than just cellulose paint but not as glossy as 2k?
Thanks
