Lucky Barnie. If that ever happens in our house it is devoured within seconds by Jasper our black Labrador.

On our long haired cat we used a Furminator comb, as suggested by the vet. I still had to cut off some the bad clumps.

I used to use a vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment on one of my cats, she seemed to really enjoy it and was the only one not to scarper when the vac started up.
