Ive got nine of these to replace on a railing in London , I have got 4 original bits and five new that have been cast by James Hoyle at the Bee-Hive Foundry. Ive decided to drill and tap them with 8mm studding to hold them in place and then intend to weld them so they cant come off , tryed some Bohler Cast rods this afternoon to weld one on the gate that I have brought back and it was`nt too successful !
any thoughts ?
I think a tack both sides of the joint will suffice ?
May resort to Brasing a tack on with oxy acetylene but i have noticed that the bars are leaded in to the top rail on the gate so that could melt (will melt)
