- the Japanese are a fair bit smaller and sloppy in mating receptacles...
That's a bit of a generalisation, taking in an entire nation. [sorry]

My name for 'em seems to be spreading among those who care (and have watched me work) - "Bodgers' crimps".
Dave H. (the other one)
As I said above, I also respect your opinion,I have to say, they are used extensively in industry and they do crimp properly if suitable sizes are used for the cable and they are used with a good quality ratchet crimper.
As with most things, it is a case of using the right component for the suitable application with correct installation method. Mashing it on with a pair sidecutters probably isn't it!
As I said above, I also respect your opinion,
The type of crimp used in the video, that the op presented, are garbage, end of.
They may be crimped successfully with the correct crimping pliers of what ever sort,
Usually very expensive, we are talking home, diy users here, not industry, I'll requisite a new pair from the stores,
But how are you going to know this,
The plastic is covering the crimped, metal, important part, that you cannot see is crimped properly.
You'll never know until it fails,
And then its to late.
I've bought those Lucas brass bullets from Beals in two wire sizes, I use them a lot on vintage/classic stuff where plastic crimps look horribly out of place.. I have a set of these in the garage, I must find out where I can get some more bullets from.
Flat out across a bridge, on a night rally in my mini - pitch black, instantly....I had a vehicle electrics instructor one , and a long time ago
his catch phrase was
Think Lucas , Think test lamp , Think Mini .
he also used to tell folk he liked to spend his weekends in Cymws Cut , its on the other side of The Black Forrest .
Strange the things that a lucas bullet connector brings back as a memory , One time just about everything in the Army was wired with Lucas Bullet Connectors.
This set is defiantly 45+ years old, So I'm going with it being imperial (I don't throw much of my late dad's old tools away)
These joints were always assembled dry at the factory, pulling them apart usually results in seeing green or black corrosion; no wonder they give trouble. Putting a smear of dialectric grease on the bullet or Lucar tab during assembly as Japanese manufacturers (IME) do prevents that issue completely.Flat out across a bridge, on a night rally in my mini - pitch black, instantly....
Bloody Lucar or lucas bullet joints, the ones behind the grille, in the middle.
Would you believe, The wiring looms for Formula Ford and other race cars of the 60's and 70's including the Monte Carlo Minis, were assembled in the Lucas factory in Oozells street in Birmingham. They did use bullet connectors. How do I know? My dad worked there! I used to go to work with him when I had to go to the Orthopaedic hospital In Broad street, every three months. Go to work for 8, earliest appointment 9, drop me off at Grannies, pick me up on the way home.Flat out across a bridge, on a night rally in my mini - pitch black, instantly....

they still crimp the wiring on an aircraft ,,, crimps are not that bad , if the correct crimp is used properly .
but why has no one mentioned scotch-loks yet ,,,, they must be high on the bodge of a lifetime list .
its all down to the correct crimp used correctly ,,, Ive seen too many scotchloks stuck into rear tail lights to get a trailer socket to work ,,,Strange how BT/telephone sockets use the idea and never seem to have a problem, also seen the same idea used on electrical motor connections

they dont half mess up a canbus though.
Cut it, join it, soulder it and heat shrink it.Scotch-locs. That's what I'm after, thanks guys. If they are not the best for trailer connections. what is. I didn't look when the guys wired the one on my Focus. I have a reversing camera to fit and it needs wiring to a reversing light, what's the best thing to use if not these?
