But of course this universe is not black or white. Its fundamental operating system is literally driven by probabilities. There is always a statistical probability that, when using an axe, you could chop off a body part. Therefore if you do it long enough, the waveform eventually collapses and you start learning to count in base 9.
Another way of saying the same thing: in a group of 10,000 axemen, how many fingers would they have between them?
Trying to find statistics for loss of digit it turns out that in the general population, doors and power tools account for the vast majority of finger loss. In the age group above 55, it is power tools that typically cost a finger. I guess after a certain age, folk just get a bit blasé and don't mind losing the odd bit.
