Can anyone school me in steel hardening?

Neither my son or wife can cut them, fed up of trying to convince them they wont lose a hand

Once left the ex alone for 5 mins to chop some kindling. She ignored everything I told her, & ended up with a nice cut or two.

A mate a of mine lost the whole finger to his brothers axe chopping at the age of 4,his bother was 5.

My hands are covered in scars from hand saws, chisels, hammers, you name Ive clobbered it

That could be used for a nice sheet metal folder with a bit of extra grinding!

Personally, I would consider an axe to be overkill for chopping kindling. At largest I would use a hatchet, but actually tend to use a billhook.

A lot of people tend to call anything that chops wood an axe. I try to differentiate that an axe needs two hands to hold but a hatchet is small and only needs one hand. Most hatchets are Elwell or Kent pattern, I prefer an Elwell for stick chopping although I have Kent and billhook but that is just for gardening.

I looked it up, a hand axe and a hatchet are not the same thing. Hatchets have a hammer head on the back of the blade while hand axes do not.

Ey, there’s many types of Axe, just picked the correct one for the job, just like any tool.

i have another type that i use

the first one is an axe but mine has a nail puller in it for the roof a slatters hammer it was known as then

I'm sure some of you have seen me post about all the new old stock we have where I work. We have £1000's of stuff like this the boxes have 12 log grenades in each one and there's loads more on another shelf. My boss says the Chinese flooded the market, but I don't know why he just doesn't stick them on ebay or amazon.
