Can anyone identity these lamps - railway?

Antenna/mast marker, maybe, but the switch is going to be a bit awkward to use up there so don't see why it would have one. ?

Turning the light off for bulb change maybe. Aren’t lights on towers permanently on?

Ha,ha, I don't know Slim! I now know that they are marine lamps but I may see if my mate wants them for his railway. Hes recently bought a 2ft gauge engine and laid some track around his large garden!
If not I will probably restore them and put some new elctrics in them.

A dark room light can be as simple as replacing a standard bulb.

Maybe not marine, how about some form of go/no go lighting, eg, recording studio/film set . Just a thought
