Can anyone identity these lamps - railway?

Can anyone identity the origin and age of these lamps I've been given please. I'm thinking from a railway?
There's no holes for cables or pipes,juat the knobs, so could they be carbide lamps?
I have not tried to undo the brass rings, they seem pretty seized.

for marine use the whole body would be brass.....these look like steel bodied....

Marine Port and starboard Lanterns.

Steel bodies, so fresh water or near coastal waters.
Brass was preferred for salt water.

The wattage of the bulb would indicate their ships position.
EG Higher the wattage the more important they are.

Value.

In that state, if glass is good and can be removed, £10.

Selling, depends if any one wants them.

I can see what is [possibly one gland and maybe a few empty gland holes.

Not ventilated.
TYA ..The holes you can see are just in the side of the mounting bracket. What you might see as a gland is a protruding boss with stuffing gland and a rotary knob.

not carbide in any shape or form, must be electric, carbide lamps need a pipe for the gas or a gas generator plus lots of ventilation around the top, what does the rotary knob do?

I just got one its in a large aluminium case with red glass dome and has a strobe lamp inside
