Try somewhere else, I've swapped 2 for lightweights at a camping centre with no problem, just paid I think it's £2 dearer for the gas. I'm sure they should be straight exchange + the gas price.

For 12 years i worked for a Calor agent up untill a few years back, we would swap cylinders of different sizes most the times though 3.9 and 4,5 for 6 and 7, at times as high as the 15`s. but not very often 19s and 47`s for smaller. But we did.

All depends on stock in the yard and what was coming in and going out.

Winter time we struggled every year for cylinders mainly 13`s and 15`s, bad winter 19s` 47`s could get low.

All down to the agent, depots will swap all depend son who is serving you. Three is no hard fast rule tp speak of.

Very same down here in North London I thought it was just me.

I just sell them on ebay. We have an independant supplier opposite the unit. Everyweek 1/2 dozen calor bottles are dumped outside which they wont take. Easy money. Get £5 to £15 on ebay.

3. Under the terms of the offer, any customer who cannot produce their Cylinder Refill Agreement (an agreement issued to a first-time customer purchasing gas in a cylinder from the Promoter) and who returns their unwanted Calor-branded cylinder to a Calor Centre will be entitled to a cash payment of £7.50 from the Promoter, subject to these terms.

Go along to my local Calor depot and ask nicely. The Gold blend coffee works well, as does Choccy hob nobs biccies. They will let you have one or 2 condemned bottles.

Scrappies wont take them unless they are vented and cut so one of ours collects them as they are often dumped outside his gates, stores them, then gives them away for free as they cannot use them.
