Calor 'cash back'

Looks like Calor want all their unused cylinders back, something to do with the cold weather perhaps, anyway this may be of interest to some here. https://www.calor.co.uk/unwanted-calor-bottle-return I have a couple of 13kg s here so I might have to find the time for a trip to Wandsworth and cash them in.

I'll keep an eye out around the countryside while I'm out on my bike (although I would have to get the car out to collect any spots).

It's a pity people aren't offering money for unwanted white goods and sofa's - there are plenty of those littering our local lanes ;-)

I wouldnt be so fast. Unless you have one to exchange you'll need to open an ccount and buy the first bottle.
Father in law uses a 13kg to light the fire, its too heavy for him now so asked about a smaller one...they wanted 45quid plus the cost of the gas.

That is what I thought but it reads orphan bottles that you have er.... no contract =£7.50 cash back and ones with a legit contract ' upto £45', I am not going to make a special trip to Wandsworth to find out but if I am passing I will give it a go.

That's just going to be a opportunity for any undesirables to go round picking up any calor cylinder they see so they can cash then in.
Anyone who has a cylinder they want to get rid off may well be better of putting it on eBay then they can get a better price as calor charge a new customer £30+ for each new cylinder you take on top of the gas price.

Ditto, I wanted to upgrade my steel calor caravan bottle to the new lightweight bottle. They wanted about £60, price of new bottle + gas refill, not interested in the steel bottle unless I had a contract for it, which I didnt because it came with the caravan.

Yes, when I left the UK I had some of the tall red propane cylinders from Calor gas, to run my gas cooker, ...all legit .. I tried to take them back to my local calor agent ..but he wanted to see the paperwork from the agent in Scotland 25 years before ....

Try somewhere else, I've swapped 2 for lightweights at a camping centre with no problem, just paid I think it's £2 dearer for the gas. I'm sure they should be straight exchange + the gas price.

There are 'groups' of bottles where you can exchange one type for another. Whether the lightweights are in the right group to swap for another cylinder or whether the agent understands is a different matter...

I've changed butane for propane 13kilo for 6 & 6 standard for 6 lightweight without any problem. May be I have gone to a helpful agent. The lightweights all had a recall on in the last year or so with a straight exchange, I took back 2 nearly empty ones & got 2 full ones back free. The agent said that's ok that's the deal. I had to wait for the lightweights as they were in short supply due to the recall & the agent told me to use up the gas & bring them back empty if I could. If they couldn't change like for like due to stock level & I needed one he told me to take an old one & change again later. So I can't see this is correct to charge to change over, unless they've changed their policy

The two cylinders I've got I just got two odd ones from gas fires being scrapped & took them back, there was no question about it

This must be new as I said, it wasn't a problem, but that also clearly says 6 kilo & lightweights in the same group so should be able to be change at no extra charge

I use gasdeal.co.uk no need for an old bottle to exchange, free delivery and a lot cheaper than calor, especially when they have offers on.

Does that include bottles that have had the valve smashed out and converted into woodburners?

Tried to swap the bottle at a main Calor depot approx 4 miles from home. Approx same size bottle.

Maybe they have cottoned on to the fact many people are cutting them up for making wood burning stoves.

Go along to my local Calor depot and ask nicely. The Gold blend coffee works well, as does Choccy hob nobs biccies. They will let you have one or 2 condemned bottles.

Nice and simply done. Most of the time the valve is all ready removed.

i refill my own smaller bottles of tyhe large one i have u dont get conned for handling and vat to change them

At one time in Sheffield one of the smaller suppliers would take Calor bottles and swap them for a Shell bottle and exchange the regulator for you as well.

With a large proportion of the country using gas bottles for barbequing.....

Or scrap yards have a few kicking about that been found in cars a small drink there let you take them away
