Wow that engine really was a crapper! I'm going to re-read the whole thread sometime soon. How did you create the scallops in the sub frame mounts in a lathe? I can do round things but not scallops

First update of 2016.............Year 4 on the project..........well 3 x winters anyway 
Been working on the hand controls. Picked up some nice neat push-buttons over the summer instead of my original choice. They cost a few ££'s but make the cockpit a bit nicer to look at. Also threw on my CNC levers and the overhauled throttle.

Also had to do a bit of head scratching on the routing for the front brake hoses. I've seen so many nice builds let down with pipes cable tied here and there. My original plan (the easy way out) to use a boss off the fork leg would have meant excess strain on the hose during travel, so I abandoned that............Could not find anything decent looking, or unobtrusive to secure the pipes after weeks of research, so I decided to fabricate my own. Using a piece of Black acetal I had lying around I machined some split bushes and set about canablising a stainless cable tie. So you could say they are cable tied on, but not in the same sense 
Also had to make up a blanking plug for the left caliper, as if you've been following the build will remember it was an ABS type which I modified to have a matching opposite pair..

While I was scratching my head on the hose bracket I threw the seat and tank on for a bit of inspiration. The pics are a bit poor as I can only see the bike in full from about 6ft away . Been trying to get it outside for the last week to take some decent pics of it, but it hasn't stopped raining since November down here 
Anyway, some close up blurry ones to whet the appetite....

the tank was an eBay special "new" one from India. I say new, as I had to seam weld it, weld in a new filler neck, fill in some missing bits up front and at the tail and generally re-shape it. Was a hell of a job!! Seat was from Thailand, the seat hump I moulded myself out of GRP.
The hole is for a M3 caphead, with a nyloc on the back to secure. This allows the clip to be fitted and tensioned around the fork leg, and hose sleeve.

Encountered one of the Indian tanks intended for a Bultaco a couple of months ago, the customer wanted it polished. Had a quick look at it and it was so poorly made it turned out easier to make new ones, than mess around with Indian..............
Looks like you done a nice job of fixing it up though, which must have taken an awful long time.

this was after the first quick clean up with a flap disc..............
started off repairing it with the TIG, but was going through an alarming amount of filler rod. Got the big guns out in the end and MIG'd it............lesson learned there. I'll never buy another

no its just a high temp tie, same design as a normal one. The ends are wrapped round back on themselves then trimmed off on the "blind side" if you see what I mean??? Formed it round a socket and bolt

I am getting all excited.
It is all the little bits which are thoughtfully done which makes a 'special' rather than an eBay special.
....but.... I also agree that the exhaust should have a welded bracket rather than the two bands. A man of your calibre could make it almost disappear.
....and.....I think the relays might appreciate being turned so the pins face down. Any water, I know you said it is a sunny day bike, WILL find its' way to where it does not belong.
