Spending enough to buy something new or nearly new - well, that's about as likely to happen as getting the pope into a strip club!
I had actually thought about asking you to see if you had anything small and cheap once I got access to a suitable vehicle, then looked at the map - 300 miles. Perhaps not.

Funnily enough I do have a 250a unit with a Ruggerini engine which gave us reliable service for year as a generator, I should fiddle with that again it just needs some work - engine is sweet but needs tidying and I think I once tried the welding output and it was far too low (i.e not working right), though that was a lot of years ago so can't be sure.

I could always clean up and sell you a used HGI 200DC, 4kw 230v 2.2kw 110v and 200 amps of nice smooth welding current in a rugged wheelbarrow frame with built in tool tray for rods, leads, sarnies and thermos...

I know you don't like them because they are as old as the hills, but that's part of the reason I like the midget, there is a set of windings, some permanent magnets and a rotary switch... Nothing else. Simple and effective.

Yes, although I'm expecting it to be more than I'm keen to spend at the minute (well OK, ever!) and I shouldn't think transport is cheap, but I don't know if I don't ask.

Engine serviced, oil, air, fuel filter and spark plug changed, valve clearances checked/adjusted. Engine RPM set for correct 52hz speed off load. Electrical insulation check over, but and bolt check of all current carrying connections, blow out of generator, windings and controls. Replace brushes. Leave all cosmetic rust and flaky powdercoat as is. £695 + VAT delivered. Most have not reached 1,000 hours yet.

Ouch, that's enough to make me considerably more poor. But no I didn't fall over - experience has taught me to hold onto something when asking for prices...
Presumably that price is including a lifetime warranty then?

Looking at the specs they look like useful machines, I don't suppose you've any older (cheaper) ones knocking about? Usage this end would realistically be very, very little and certainly not demanding, older would be far more tempting.

Actually I must say that I think that price is fair, given it's being fully serviced.
If I wasn't both tight and skint (dog needing emergency treatment from the vet after eating rat poison hasn't helped) and with a little more justification for it I don't think I would be hesitating.

Afraid not Bill, we tend to rotate them so they all age at about the same rate rather than keep putting out the one at the front of the pile every time.

Do you have any spares still in stock for the arcgen 330's Jim? I've got one that needs a good service and cleanup. Ive always gone thru arcgen ( or Morris machinery as they now are ) for parts in the past

Here most of them are, lined up ready for collection. Some are round the corner still. Took all day to get them off the running gear for transportation.
