When it comes to drilling, few people have any clue. Seriously, a lot of people think that HSS literally means you run it at high speed. Try getting it through to someone to slow down. It's a lesson in frustration.

Be interesting to see a comparison of them , they are only claiming 4x speed vs a roll formed drill bit , so doesn't sound too out of the realm of possibility. I wonder how they compare to the split grind bits which have a much smaller chissle section in the middle of the grind.

All the ones that look like that near a pals drill press have the little protrusion melted off, not sure what brand they are, I will check the shank next time I'm there

Yes I sharpen them they are fiddilier than a normal.bit as you.need to.sharpen both the piliot point and the main cutting edges

on the mains drill vs battery.... I prefer battery... my battery drills low speeds are slower than any of my mains drill low speeds

I think they're easier to speed control / regulate pressure on the drill too

I've tried many times to explain to people it's faster to drill a hole slowly. They can't grasp it. I just let everyone get on with it now, and don't let anyone else use my drill bits.

I used to have a slow 240 drill in a drill press holder i just clamped down and used a dewalt extreme and wd40, slow and steady even 10 feet off the ground

Dewalt extreme 2 bits are actually surprisingly good hand held

I did rescue a few but most had gone blue they are never any good after being that hot.

Cut the ends off and resharpen. Stub drills are handy.

I’ve my fathers old 70’s B&D for exactly that reason.

Dewalt extreme where possible, did 1120 9mm holes through 3mm box with 2 bits with drill press, no pilots. Have to be careful using them with cordless they can really snatch, 2 hands on drill definitely needed!

Nothing like full speed, blade turns blue and starts smoking. Cutting gets slow? Push harder!

Holesaws with our lot, flat out, wiggle around whilst drilling and a 5 year old but still full can of cutting fluid (don’t want to waste the fluid by using it)!
