Dumb question. On galv conduit, when connecting to a metal clad back box, using a bush, is the big fat ?lead? washer on the outside of the box?

A lead washer is for moisture sealing so would be pointless if fitting a bush.
The washers are used with flanged couplers as a plain coupler would cut through it.

You may find the flange over hangs the back of the back box? I'd ditch them and just use plain couplers personally

That's a flanged coupler so will be fine to use with the lead washer, the washer goes on the outside of the box and screwing the brass bush in will compress the lead, forming the seal. It's really designed for outdoor use to keep water out, but if you've bought them you may as well use them.

If you don't already have one, a bush wrench is handy for tightening the brass bushes when they're obscured by the faceplate mounting tabs on the side of the backbox.

I didn't know of the two types. Every day's a school day. They look cool, and they work alignment wise with the box, just,so I'll use them.

Cat5 and mains cabling should be in separate containment.

I think the regs say 100mm separation between low voltage and extra low voltage, also the cat5 cable does not have insulation to withstand 240v, not that ive ever seen any problems personally it just what the "book" says

I'll risk it. With a chunky earth I can't see the risk being high. There's four layers of plastic between the conductors.

that looks all ott why metal conduit and 4 saddles doesnt need any at that distance .no need for for those couplings as well plastic conduit would have been better,its not a workshop that could be damaged with heavy metal dropping on it

Agree on the saddles and spacing of them.

But galv looks much nicer than plastic IMHO!

Totally cosmetic. All for show and for appearance. Saddles are also necessary to ensure the connectors are super secure as I'll be attaching toggle switches to some of them. Plus plastic would look rubbish.

Not happy with the position of the bend on this, but will live with it. If I've spare I'll re-do so the bend is higher up.

And the end wall is half done. It was the hardest bit so far. Pulling the 2.5mm² through the inspection bends was always going to be a chore, but the cat 5e doesn't help.

Still that's done, and nothing that filler and paint won't make invisible.

The rest should be easier. Less wire.
